Help identifying unusually carved chair
« on: October 06, 2013, 11:11:38 am »
Hi there,

I have had this unusual chair in my house for quite some time now and I was wondering if someone could help me identify it.  I believe the wood is walnut - could the chair be Italian?  Dutch?

Please see pictures below

Kind regards,

L

Not much help, but I believe the following link shows a chair at the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, FL.

I believe it to be a sgabello 1800's'ish walnut and possibly north Italian.   That's as much as I've been able to find out.

I've put it back in my storage unit since I couldn't identify it - I'm was thinking of selling it as soon as I know what it is :P

My first impression was Italian.

Just can't tell much from the pics!

Carved hall chair. Masses of them about from different countries. Looks repro but would need to see a close up.
