I'd suggest that you buy your daughter a new guitar that she likes the best & will suit her playing style/tastes , rather than your desire to purchase a collectors guitar that will maintain &/or grow (or fall) in value , icedgold10 .
I think it would be wiser to invest in something 'financial' , if you'd like your daughter to have something that has potential to grow in value & present it to her in a decade or so , v/s an electric guitar .
The Strat , esp. the fatbodies , are heavy & can cause problems for young (& old) players ... the Tele is quite a bit more 'twangy' & lighter in weight .
Many playing collectors prefer the solid maple necks on their old Fenders , & some really like having a stereo set-up on their Strat pickups/electronics .
All of the 14 year old guitar players that I've known (for decades) are scarcely able to fully comply/understand &/or have the knowledge & skills to keep a true collectors' guitar in tip-top condition .... the idea with the electric guitar is to play it , not put it on an altar !
As time goes on your girl will find the guitar(s) that suit her best with their tone , 'feel' , weight , spirit & all the other things that a guitarist loves/values about their 'instrument-of-choice' .... provided , of course , that she sticks to the guitar .
The axe that fits her now may not in a few years , much like clothing .
I've played thousands of guitars , and every one is different from every other one , regardless of who , when , where or why they were made .
It's all about the 'holistic' feel & sound , not the 'cool factor' , IMO .
Just the facts , M'am !
