You would think that any reputable jewelry store would have someone that was qualified !! Otherwise what are they doing in a jewelry store !!  That's their job to be able to identify the stones !! I have never been charged to take a jewelers loupe and look at something !!~  Testing for gold ect requires them to use supplies they have so that I can see charging for !!

Really, right? Can you ask is they could possibly look at them for insurance reasons? If they are valuable I'm sure you would want to add them to your homeowners insurance. I would think any reputable jewelry store would do this for you...maybe for a small fee?
