Your Vintage Holiday Decorations
« on: December 09, 2013, 09:52:50 am »
We found two of these old bottle brush wreaths at the local pet adoption thrift store. They were a steal for a couple bucks. It made me think that everyone here must have vintage or antique decorations they would like to show everyone else. I know I would love to see what everyone has, wouldn't you?

Unfortunately my favorite family hand-me-downs disappeared in a move....but my favorites as a kid were ones like these (these are on ebay)....felted deer that my grandfather actually felted...but ours were turquoise with sparkles!  These were very popular during the 40's to 50's.

Those are really nice. We seem to have lost some bubble lights in a move too. I found the old ornaments but not the lights. I am missing some balls to that must have been in the same box.

Were yours the ones that looked like candles and stood upright on the tree Frogpatch ?? My aunt and uncle had those in early 50`s !! Loved those things !! Have no idea what happened to mothers old stuff !!  Likely she tossed them !!

Yes Mart,
They were powered by a transformer which was unusual. There were also some bulbs that were different colors and shaped like little flames. Look at these. They are made in Japan from paper, pipe cleaners, and glitter. I think the Santa's may be pre WWII. Would you know how old they are?

I think those Santa Bears would be from 30`s or early 40`s when "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" book hit the scene as a popular story for kids !!
