Vintage wall clock
« on: December 19, 2013, 04:56:38 pm »
Hello,

I would like to know how much this would cost considering that it is not working and that some of the trim needs to be fixed. Thanks!

a lot will depend on the movement,if it has a mechanical movement, that would indicate that its quite old,...and repairing them can be quite expensive....you can buy an almost identical one to this, but with a quartz movement for under $75

Many of these were brought back from soldiers stationed in Germany !! Not the best carving,, !! Most of these were sold to soldiers and tourists !!  We have one hubby brought back when he was there !! Not much different from yours !!

Yeah, not great unfortunately.
Could be as little as £10-20 at auction

Yep.

Looks like Schwartzwald, ca. 1980.

I HAVE ONE EXACTLY EXACTLY EXACTLY like it!!!!!!

My dad bought it during WWII and brought it back for my mom. Will ask him later where he got it!
The top is separate.  There are 2 pinecone weights and the chains do get rusty.

These are not worth a whole lot monetarily...but are worth quite a bit sentimentally!!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

this one has pine cones as well..you can just see one in the pic....in Triberg..in the Schwarzwald...."Black Forest"...The worlds first largest Cuckoo Clock is situated, the second one is in Schonach..also in the Schwarzwald...the Schwarzwald covers an area of 6009 square kms,...its a fantastic area and a bikers paradise...Avril and I spent 4 days there, and never saw half of it,..there is a Lake at Titisee where..no power boats with petrol engines are allowed, ..electric only...Also in Triberg is the..House of a Thousand Cuckoo Clocks,...its a very big shop, that sells cuckoo clocks ranging from 50 euro,s ...right up to one,s that ..you,d have to re=mortgage your house to buy....and ..for you Ice, if you ever visit Germany...be sure to start here....Avril and I have done 10 tours of Germany...from North to South, and East to West...and you,ll never find a cleaner country anywhere...with people who make you so welcome....it beggars belief....

I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

Stuttgart,..is a great City,...we have friends who live near to here...they are in Schwabisch Gmund..What Avril and I love about Germany is first it people, then the places to visit...you,ll never get bored with the country, and its summers are warm...especially in the south,Then there,s the Autobahns...I call them racetrack Autobahn....If your car/bike can do 180/200mph...then you can do it...In all the time we,ve been there we have only seen 3 major crashes on the Autobahn...and in each of them a British plated vehicle was involved....but i think maybe we have been lucky....Its a fact that I know more about Germany than i do about Scotland..... :)
