When did wavy glass start appearing in furniture?

I am trying to find out when wavy or serpentine glass first started to appear in european furniture?  I have been led up the garden path with mid Victorian to Edwardian. Are either of these correct or was it earlier?

Most early glass had a wavy appearance !! Is there a particular piece you are trying to date ??  What is the glass on ??

The item item has been described as a victorian cabinet with serpentine or S shaped glass doors. I do not have any photos and was trying to establish if a long trip was worth while. It seems that everything over 30 years old is now Victorian. If I can establish when curved glass doors first appeared I can at least decide on viewing the item or not.

Well that much helps a bit !!  Wavy glass is not the term if you are talking about a curved glass cabinet !!

Can you give us a link to the ad so we can look at it ??  The early curved glass and more modern glass is pretty easy to tell the difference !!  Look for irregularities in the glass !! Early curved glass was rolled and due to that process the glass will have a wavy look !! There will also be bubbles in the glass !! Early glass is thinner that the later more modern glass !!  Early glass can have (but not always) a blue or iridescent look when you look at it from a certain angle !!

But he is asking about the glass not the cabinet style !!

Its all about Interpretation....a nd until we get to see what he,s been offered ,then we can conjecture all we want....but,..its my way of thinking that he,s been offered a Serpentine cabinet with either a bow front or curved glass doors...in the shape of an S........
