True temper tommy axe
« on: February 10, 2014, 10:40:08 am »
I have this ax that was my Grandfathers. It has been in the shop for a few years and I use to split kindling for the wood burner. I was looking at because the handle is loose and saw "True temper tommy axe " stamped on the head with "No. taf" stamped on the other side. After googling it I saw it might be worth something and maybe should be hanging on the wall instead of using it. My question is the handle. Does anyone know if this might be the original handle?

Are there any markings on the axe head and could we have a close up photo of the head?

That handle was sold by Sears and several other retailers !! I think they are still being made !! If I remember, the axe was made around the 50`s so handle could be original !!
SS is for Super Splitter !! Designed to look like the larger adult axes !! Can`t remember when they started using True Temper !!
Just tighten it up and hang it on the wall,,or use it !!

There are many on eBay. There were some axes that had some engravings on the axe heads. There is a forum about axes.
