French made statue lamp(L & F Moreau figural lamp)
« on: February 22, 2014, 11:43:48 am »
I am unable to find info online for this lamp and would really appreciate some help. ERNTE is printed on the base. The label on the bottom indicates it was made in France(sorry there is no pic, this label is in english). The cord has been cut. I did not find a makers marking.
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Can you please post a pic of the bottom with the label?

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Love the description. " Art Deco lamp.......c1910 "

Some of the auction houses make me chuckle ;D

Yes that is very similar. Thank you. I have a pic of the base and 2 more of the lamp. Made in France is stamped in the wood.

I found this sold ebay listing. The figure is the same but the background plant is different.

Apparently these is a "Figural Spelter" lamp. Still no ideas on the maker.

If the cord has been cut ....... then it probably needs to be rewired before you try to plug it into 110V.

Original beaded bulb covers such as yours are hard to come by.  If you do rewire the lamp & use it, make sure you only use very low wattage bulbs as you can easily destroy the thread holding the beading together.  I have in the past sold pairs of those bulbs covers for $200- $300 depending on condition.  GG

Thank you for all the helpful posts. After looking around for awhile I believe it is a L & F Moreau figural lamp.
If I was interested in selling this do you think it would be better to rewire it or leave it as is?

If I were selling it,, I would rewire it !! Always a better selling point when you can say it has been rewired to todays standard and safe to use !!
