match safe or blade safe?
« on: March 12, 2014, 01:30:57 pm »
I have seen this very similar to what some call a match safe but without the insert and with ridges on the bottom for striking a match. Mine which I got at a swap meet for 4 bucks does not have the ridges and does have a sloted insert in the top. Does anyone here know if this is a razor safe? Was it disposable I can not seem to remove the insert. Thanks

Looks like you are right !! Medicine cabinets used to have a slot like that to drop them in !!  This probably was part of a gentlemans travel set !!

Nah, no think a "used" razor blade holder. No one saves old razor blades unless they had a "rotary" razor blade sharpener.

The small opening on the left has a purpose.

Not saved for resharpening but to keep from getting cut !! Disposal would have been a problem,,can`t just drop them in the trash !! The little hole may have had a small key to open it !!

Ditto what Mart said!!!  It was for safety.

I remember our bathroom medicine cabinet even had a razor blade disposal slot to drop the used blades in (behind the wall)!

This was always a concern because like Mart said, your couldn't drop in the trash!

This had a "key" to open and remove the blades!

Either that is an awful small case ..... or that's an awful big slot just to put a razor blade thru.

I'm also a CAGW skeptic, too.   ;D ;D ;D

The big question is, ..... how often (# days) does one need to change razor blades?

I don't know because I've never had to shave many whiskers.

My grandmother's maiden name was Fox.  :D (Cherokee/Shawnee genes ??)
