Art Deco Tea/Coffee Set Help
« on: March 29, 2014, 12:20:00 am »
Hi everyone. I am new here but I have started collecting antiques like my dad. At an estate sale I came across this wonderful tea + coffee set, that I was too late to purchase myself (by mere minutes!). The person who took the set left quickly after buying and the sales people didn't have any information on the person so I was hoping to get ideas on the make or type of set this was. Its really very unique and amazing set, I am sorry I dont have closer photos but if anyone has any idea who could have made it, if anyone has seen it or knows anything about it. Id like to find a set like it, if not one exactly like it. Thanks!

If I am seeing correctly there are two sizes of "cups".  Some short and some with taller pedestals.  If that is in fact the case, I believe that this is a dessert set that you would find so-very-popular in the 1920's to 1950's.

Sure wish you could have gotten a picture of the bottom of a piece - the makers mark.

Gorgeous and unique set.  If I was there you would have had to race me to get them as well!  :)  :)  :)

How much did they pay for this?

Ding Ding!

in the late 1930's to 1950's it was very "in" to have Aladdin lamp teapots.  Popular US makers were Hall, Bauer, Sadler...

Yes! That is the set. You guys are AMAZING. I wish I could have taken the photo of the makers mark but the person who bought it was in a rush to leave and took it before I could find out. I couldn't believe I was mere moments from grabbing it up. That set on ebay is amazing. Thank you so much, this forum is awesome I am glad I found it and glad I am the next generation of collector!

Actually, I took a look, that is the person who purchased it from the sale! Talk about weird! They live not to far from me, I may just contact them about the whole set!

Watchers  but no bids yet !! I don`t think contacting them would be best !! I would just put a bid in and see how the auction goes !! If they think you want it too bad,,price could go up !! If you win at auction just do a pick up and save that shipping fee !!  Sometimes starting prices that high just bomb out and no one bids !!  You can put a max bid in so you don`t have to watch it !!

Interesting they aren't selling all the pieces they bought!  Just the tea cups/saucers and larger "soup" cups n saucers.  Aren't selling the 5 pedestal ice cream cups!

Oops, spoke too soon...they are listed separately (minus 1)

Glad we could help. Some things are meant to be. 8)

Looking at the eBay photos, I see where some of the pieces carry a price tag from the Magazzini Allo Statuto (MAS) department store. Maybe this line was never exported to the States?
