Hi all this has been in my family for four generations, but we know nothing about it.What is it? where was it made? is the number on the base a date, any help would be appreciated.

Not a date, sorry.  Either decorators mark or shape number.  Looks like early 20th century, part of a dresser set, the tray.  Art Nouveau, not a lot of value.  GG
