porcelain firestone sign
« on: July 02, 2014, 02:37:31 am »
Hello,

I am looking to find a value of this sign. I would like to sell it.
It is 6ft x 21in

It came from a dilapidated shed in Santa Rosa California that I demolished, and has been sitting in storage (in Nevada) for the past 15 years.

Thanks

The size and weight are going to be the "issue" on yours.  What makes it so sonderful is also what makes it a challenge.  Is it porcelain only, or is it porcelain and embossed?

There are some for sale on Ebay.

I would recommend that you watch them for comparison sake.

That was actually very helpful. Thanks.

I can be like one of those people on antique roadshow that gets all excited about what it's worth. lol

I knew porcelain signs were worth money because they seem to make such a big deal out of them on TV, but I don't really have any idea about them. I posted those pictures on another car forum and one guy immediately offered to buy it in Washington.

I have two other smaller oil company signs somewhere (hope they are in my attack and didn't get stolen).

I will take a closeup picture and maybe someone can tell me the exact porcelain type.

I would say it is embossed because it is definitely layered.

Here is a closeup picture of the most damaged spot.

I found my other 2 signs.
They are Veedol and Tydol, and in much better condition. I might hang onto them. I hung them in my bedroom for a few years growing up.
