Antique Smoker?
« on: May 31, 2005, 09:32:07 am »
Greetings...
I just happend upon your site and was wondering if anyone knew anything abut this piece. It's been a question of mine since acquiring it from my family's estate some 40 years ago.

It appears to be a raised bronze ashtray since it has holders on the sides which would accomodate cigars...too large for cigarettes.  The inscription on the bottom says CAGNE with the "N" Reversed (backwards)
The cast is that of a hunting scene with hunting dogs, ducks, quail, and the removable cover has a handle on it depicting a coiled snake eating a rodent.

I have pictures but am unable to find a way to post them to this message board.

Any help with origin, the artist or value would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
