Japanese Plate?
« on: September 02, 2014, 11:42:59 am »
Is there anyone out there that knows Japanese pottery.  I have looked and looked and came up with Hiroshi Kikuchi who is a high-end studio artist.  The problem is his work looks nothing like this.  Could someone point me in the right direction of getting this identified.

Thank you sooooo much!!!

What ???

Is it marked anywhere ??  If not,, chances are its a generic import !! Studio artist would always sign his work !! Otherwise how would anyone know it was his ?? That would be like throwing money away !!

Hi mart!

There is a very faint signature under glaze that reads "Kicuchi".  I tried to enlarge the photo and catch it in the right light.  I hope this helps.

I do not see this plate being by that potter !! Style is not right and why would a well known studio artist do dinnerware ?? Chances are,, he would not !!  And check that spelling,, I may have missed it because it is so hard to see on yours !! But it looks like it is spelled with a  "c" on yours and the artist spells his name with a "k" !!
