Toy Flintlock Pistol Info?
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:36:22 am »
I have this flintlock pistol toy which I got from a house clearance. I was surprised at the level of detail in it so purchased it. It is made from metal with plastic. It had cobwebs on it so must be old. It has deer on the sides of the barrel, a viking head on the butt and a squirrel on the sides of the butt. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What is the size ??  Is anything written or stamped on top of the barrel ??  Is it a cap gun ??

From front of barrel to back of butt it is about 36cm. There is nothing stamped on the barrel exept some decorative pattern. I do not think it is a cap gun as i cannot see anywhere to put caps.

These are pics of top of barrel and where the flint hits. Any recommendations on how I can safely clean it?

As i was walking away from the guy I heard him say to his wife that he sold the funnel seperately earlier. Any idea why it would have a funnel? My friend said it may be a pirate toy but looking at the pictures in the metal I would think differently as it has a hunting dog by the hammer, deer on the other side and squirrels on which is more hunting than pirate themed. Also why would it have a viking head if it is pirates?

The viking is on the bottom of the butt. You can see the viking eyes on the left they are 2 ovals. Above that is a helmet with horns which is just visible on the picture. His nose is just to the left of the screw. There is no pirate on it hence why I thought my friend was wrong.Tilt your head left and you should see the viking haha.

http://www.swordsofhonor.com/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=17&sort=20a&page=all

Found several here with a pirate face butt plate !! These are replicas about the same size as yours !! Note that they do not say they are accurate replicas !! Could have different engravings !! Doubt seriously that the people that buy these are that picky about the tiny details !!
