What is This Wooden Part From

This was given to me when I asked how much it was. I have no idea what it is. It apparently was part of something as the inner turned surfaces do not show exposure as the shaft and ribbed part does. The part that looks like a gear has little notches on each tooth which would make me think that it never turned anything. What do you all think? There is also a metal eye on the end of the shaft. Once again I have to do a second post because the "more attachments" won't work

Since it has the little hanger on top and if its about 9 inches long then its a reamer/juicer from a hanging kitchen set !! Mothers had a round one without the ridges on side !! I used it to darn socks by putting the rounded end into the toe !!

.... or maybe a mexican wooden tool , for mixing/frothing-up chocolate beverages , spun back & forth , between hands ....

Fancypants is right. The rings are missing that is why the difference in color. I actually had one of those once. I should have known that. I may use it as a reamer for key limes because it is small in diameter. If I can ever find them in NJ. Into the drawer it goes.

It kinda makes me think it might be a hand made replacement “pull” for an old pump organ or something similar.

Most times I’ve seen a “metal eye” like that on something it was for attaching a string, a spring or a stiff wire “linkage”.

Yes,, The handle does show a wear pattern typical of the ,,,whatever its called !!
