Chalk-Like Pottery - Round Bottom Teapot?
« on: December 30, 2014, 01:52:07 pm »
I might have posted this a long time ago, but still no clue what it is.  It's a little bigger then a softball.  The outside feels chalky and will leave a chalk-like mark if rubbed on something.  (It might just be dirty, but I don't want to try and wash it.)

The bottom is round, I don't think it was made to sit on a table.

I'm wondering if it's just a decorative piece or a reproduction of something primitive.  It doesn't really look "used" if it was old, I would think there would be more signs of wear.

The only other similar pottery I can find is a "Turkish olive oil pot" (the first ones that show up on google image search"

Any ideas what region it came from, what it's use was?
