Giant Tin Snips
« on: January 26, 2015, 06:05:22 am »
A car boot find for £5 a pair of giant metal cutters. The right angle extension goes into the hole in the top of a blacksmiths anvil for extra leverage. 3 foot 6 inches in length and weigh a ton.

Don`t think those are "tin snips",, I think they are for cutting red hot steel as it comes out of the forge !!

Nice big 'ole snips (shears) there , wilhenri !

Perhaps from a 'cooper-blacksmith' , for cutting hot metal bands & such , as mart sez .

Here's an image of one 30" long , with 7" cutters .

The right angle extension is per se ..... the blacksmith's 3rd hand.

It holds the "snips" in an upright position on top of the anvil.
