Hunky Guys
« on: February 01, 2015, 10:32:29 am »
I picked this up at a yard sale quite some time ago.  Does not appear to have a signature & no info on the back of the frame.
By the bathing suits do you think it is 1940's?  I don't think it has any value except maybe as a design piece, what do you think?  I certainly do enjoy looking at my  "beefcake" guys.  Including pics back, side, front.

Don't know why pics came out sideway, maybe because I am on my iPad. I will try flipping them.

Is that a print on canvas or a painting? Do not guess it has no value. I can tell that you like it for obvious reasons so a lot more women and some men will probably like it too. It is pop art and may be more valuable than you think if the artist is recognizable. It is very well executed in my opinion.  It may have be done for advertising back in the 40s. I think you are correct with the date: late 40s /early 50s. They even had six packs back then. Who knew?
Google vintage Jantzen Swimwear Ads and you will see strikingly the similar art styles. I think that is what it was created for.

It is paint on canvas.  You can see the actual brush strokes.

Mart, my hubby was wondering what in the world I was looking at (your link).  LOL  Tried to explain it was for the antique forum.  He said he didn't "buy that one"!  LOLOL  He may start perusing the forum to see what we are REALLY up to.
