Need some help with a Ring please
« on: February 24, 2015, 10:30:37 am »
I feel sure this ring has connections with the USA partly because of the style of the Rifle and Sword on the shoulders of it. The shield has obviously been attached at a later date and I am wondering if its the Lone Star of Texas that I see peeping out from underneath. I have had this more than 10 years and has always wondered about heating the ring and removing the shield.. All opinions warmly received

So cool.

Good guess with the Texas origin. I believe that the ring body is a Texas A&M University ring and it's probably quite old.

I'm going to keep searching and if I find anything more I will let you know.

Here is a 1918 example.

Nope, not an Aggie ring!

Does look like a military ring of sorts.  The search is on!  (Would love to know what is on the "shield" part of the ring that has been covered up!)  :)

I appreciate the help thank you yes I want to know why it was covered up and the significance of the 1914 1915 dates..something military judging by the aircraft and the cannon.. The person owning this ring must have been poor as its silver not gold

still a very intriguing piece Wilhenri.  How did you come about it?

I am sure you have done this but have to ask.  Have you take a good looking glass/magnifier and attempted to see "more" underneath the shield?  Curious how the shield was added.
