Porcelain marks
« on: April 25, 2015, 12:16:08 pm »
Hi,
I have inherited a tea set with the attached marks at the bottom. The marks show they're from Bavaria but couldn't find the marks anywhere on the net. Has anyone ever come across this mark?

It is overstamped isn`t it ??  The round oval behind the Bavaria mark ?? What does the one on the back say ??  Pics are not sharp enough for me to read ??

Mart it says:  H E R O Porzellan.

I know there is a Hero Design Company that is an outlet for other named porzellan in Germany but don't believe that is what this is referring to (it was established in 2002).

I found a "similar" mark on Porcelain Marks & More site....but it doesn't refere to HERO.

Hopefully Chris will drop by and give a look/see/comment.

Can you please post a picture of the set and a closeup of the design?  Thanks!

As KC already said, these oval mark additions have nothing to do with HERO (the 'Henneberg' factory outlet). They were applied by some retailer, but that was a LONG time ago as shown marks are from the factory of Oscar Schaller (pre-Winterling) from the town of Schwarzenbach, dated between 1892 and 1918.
