Need help identifying large antique handcarved wall mirror

I have looked everywhere for something similar, pics, forums, eBay, etc.  I have found nothing comparable.  There are no markings on the mirror, the wood, the backing, no where.  It is very heavy, approximately 38"w x  35"h, with what looks to be maybe gold leaf.  It was given to me by an elderly lady, of which I bought my home from, she told me it was very old but that was about all she said.  I have pics... any info would be very much appreciated.

Your pics do not enlarge and cannot see much with the thumbnails !!  Can you make the pics a little larger and include one of the back and the edge ?  Not just the carved looking part but the part that holds the mirror !!  Many people think these are hand carved but there are no carving marks,,most are cast plaster !!  I think that is what yours is and not too old !!  The older mirrors would have a beveled edge and yours does not appear to have it !!

I agree with Mart on the item being plaster. Older mirrors do have beveled edges, but many really old (18th C.) mirrors do not but they are very thin as a rule. If you take something like a pencil point and hold it against the mirror the depth of the refection will show the thickness at around 1/8 inch. Very often the thickness will vary in an old mirror from top to bottom and there will be some wave to the glass. Also the silver will show some unevenness of reflection tones. This mirror looks like it was made in the mid 20th century to me. Mid to late 19th century would be beveled.
