Mirror ID Help

I was hoping someone could tell me what this mirror was used for. The mirror itself pivots around and the whole thing adjusts up and down. The mirror is 10"x 12". There are no markings anywhere.

My guess would be from a millinery shop or for mens hats !!  I have seen similar ones used for that !! Typically when a lady or a man is trying on a hat they are standing, not sitting, so this mirror would be perfect !!

Is the back plastic or vinyl?

I would agree with Mart on it being used for a hat shop or wig shop (millinery).  Items like this were also used for fancy venues that had heavy traffic going down corridors/hallways to help monitor "around the corner" goings on.

That pleated vinyl look seems like 1960s to me.

I agree ghopper1924, earlier times would have used leather or velvet, etc.  However, it could be recovered!  At the same time it is "plain" (not very ornamental) comparatively.

Can you please post a picture of the bottom of the stand?  Is the stand weighted?

The rusty looking iron stand and the vinyl backed mirror with its shiny chrome handle appears to me to be mismatched, ....... or should I say a "repurposed" combo.

Vinyl was just becoming popular in the 40`s and really popular in the 50`s!!  This mirror would have been upscale then !!  The metal parts would have been polished and shiny !! Thats the era I think it is from !!
