The method I use takes it All off... with minimal effort or time.... I'll post pics of the finished seasoned waffle iron when I get home.... it's the best way in my book and I have tried them all.... selfcleaning ovens didn't do what I was wanting... but it does work well for stoneware u may have... such as pampered chef.

I documented the whole process... so maybe I will post it in the project thread.

Excellent idea !!  I am all for anything that speeds the process up !!  I just need the crud off the bottom !! I think its baked/fried on grease !!  That does not work well with a glass top stove !!

Mart, this is what you need for quickly removing "the heavy crud" from the exterior bottom of your cast iron pieces.



Then use a "softer" one to finish the job, ..... to wit:

I have actually threatened doing that Cogar !!  But since I have several others it is still sitting in the garage !!
