What is hotplate made of?
« on: September 18, 2016, 02:58:24 pm »
I'm not having any luck finding anything remotely similar to this ugly thing.
 :o

Is it stone? Marble? Dylithium titanium alloy????
Probably from 1950s

It's 6"sq x .75"H
I can just barely pick it up so it must weigh about 4 pounds.
(Pathetic. I know.)
hahaha

Most I have seen like that were tumbled marble chips imbedded in a matrix !!  But don`t ask me what matrix they are in,, its a man made something similar to what they make faux marble counter tops !!

What do you mean by hotplate?  Like to sit a hot pot on?  (Hot Plate Trivet?)

Many times items like this were made with concrete!

Looks like a stone aggregate embedded in concrete or some type of resin.

Exactly.
It's not concrete.
It's probably a resin. (I never thought of that)
