Girls head in clay

Just bought this girls face moulded in clay I think . But are there more and anybody any idea how old and maybe the artist who could has made this ? It's heavy enought to be also stone ?  thanks

I was thinking it reminds me of a death mask as well Mart.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

How big is this thing ??  Another thought would be part of a fountain sculpture from looking at the wear pattern and coloration !!  Are you sure it is made of clay like a pottery ??

A good guess there, Mart, ...... a child under a "spray" of water should be portrayed with their eyes pretty much closed.

Cogar,, notice  the hole on the bottom !!  Perhaps a metal frame ?? And the hair looks sort of wet !!

The total height is 13 cm and it looks like stone . The hole is to mount it on a piece off rightangled wood on a steel pin with some age but nothing on like markings or whatever . So heavy and painted and the structure looks like a stone surface . Looked with a microscope even  :o So still a mystery to me  :-[

Me to but difficult item to place in a group off art  :P
