Hyacinth teapot
« on: February 10, 2017, 12:45:00 pm »
I thought this would be an easy one for me, but I think I'm either tired and/or blurry-eyed.

Teapot is 5" high and saucer/hotplate? for under it is 5.75" diameter.
Perfect cond.
No chips, cracks

Is the same thing on the bottom of both pieces ??  This design was registered in 1902 !!  But its a design patent for the shape of  the teapot or something unique about it !!  It said on several sites that Hyacinth was a shape rather than a decoration !!
So what it is saying is that you cannot use this decoration on a hyacinth shaped teapot !!  (I think ) !!  English system is confusing !!

Hyacinth is the pattern, surely.

Great that it's in such good condition but the obvious downside is the black - whichever factory made it was still churning out the Queen Victoria mourning period stuff.

It was probably used on a barge.

The bottom of the saucer also has a number written in gold.
Does that help narrow it down any?

Both pieces say on the bottom....
This design must not be <what>?
I can't make it out.

Well, I love it, so unless I find out it's worth a Grand I'm keeping it.
