Antique nut holder
« on: September 22, 2005, 02:07:47 am »
Hi

I have a hand made wooden nut holder i think, im not exactly sure what its purpose is, but it is very elegantly made. i'll try to describe it -

i know it was made in the philipines
the wood is a darker tone seems to be high quality
it has a carving design/decoration using ivory going all around it,
the design kinda looks like small triangles, 4 pointing in each direction
and then one on either side pointing to left and right and another 4 and so fort. kinda like  --->   - + - + - + - + - + -

and it also has a a top also made from the same wood and a spoon.
and i also know that its 30+ years old
i was told it was for holding nuts, or decoration purposes.

does anyone know what it actualy is, its purpose? perhaps how old it could be or its value? thanks in advance.
