Very Large Old Abscract Painting

Very large painting signed "Maxwell or it look like Maxwell with what look like a number 650 but not sure,the name on the back say,Heat Drinkers or That drinkers",I was told it was not the famous Maxwell but just don't know,maybe someone know this artist and can give me some information,I bought it from a friend who clean out old homes that has been ruined down,it came out of an old attic about 10+ years ago,need cleaning on stretcher but stretcher need to be replaced,no holes in painting.

Looks like Paul Maxwell 1925 - 2015.

If it is perhaps a Paul Maxwell, if I was you, I would get a hands on from someone in-the-know to verify.  Also, wouldn't touch and repairs/restoration until that is done. 
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

KC in 2011 or 12 I emailed the art studio of Paul Maxwell and someone from the studio told me it wasn't Paul Maxwell.It has been so long I can't remember the people name but was informed he didn't paint it.So I know of no other Maxwell to look for.I've searched for years and found nothing.This painting came from an older  man's estate.It was in his basement.

Correction it has being so long it was attic or basement can't remember but it was an older man's home,the owners of home was getting rid of the contents of the sale.

Maybe an “ after “ Paul Maxwell ( a follower or student ) because the surname is written in a very similar manner.

Yes Ipcress I also notice the name.I also compared it to his signature.It does match.I'll have to have someone to look at it that really know his work.Thanks
