Antique Black Pottery Rattle With Face Strange Looking

I can't remember how long I've had this strange looking rattle.Look and feel like black pottery but has a face with little mouth open.Measure 4".I believe it came out of an attic of an estate sale years ago.Anybody know what this item is.

Mart went to google and put in spirit rattle and found mine,I meant  spirit rattle  by Nan Emmett also found it on Ebay!

Not yours !!  Didn`t search for spirit rattle !!  Didn`t know there was such a thing !!  If you look at the first link there are many !!
I used "black pottery Oaxacan hand rattle" as search term !!  Which one is yours ??

Thats odd,, I did not find a single one like yours !!  What search engine do you use ??  Mine is Yahoo !!  One of the listings is where I found several of these !!  Can`t remember which one !!

Ha !!  It is like yours !!  How cute !!  All I found were painted faces and other designs !!  Susiecat I thought you meant I found the one you have,, not one just like yours !!
