mz altrohlau set
« on: April 12, 2010, 03:29:27 pm »
Hi all,  ;D

I am new to this site and boy am i glad i found it, i have been looking up information on this tea ?? set i got for my birthday.

I have a mz altrohlau cm-r Czechoslovakia set i think, it has

4 tea cups with saucers

Milk jug

Sugar bowl

6 side plates...

the stamp under it is green and has mz altrohlau cm-r Czechoslovakia

the set is white with gold trim on the handles and edge of the cups , plates ect... also just painted flowers , the main picture is flowers in a blue vase and then painted flowers on the inside of the cups...

I have looked on ebay and can only find on cup that looks the same called Diana i think ???

One of the cups has been dropped at some point i think as it is cracked on the inside and has been very nicely glued back together  !!

I seen it in a charity shop and fell in love with it, my partner was with me and he remembered how much i liked it and on the day of my birthday it was there for me....

I am not looking to sell this at all the main reason i am asking on a price is that if it IS worth anything then i want to put it on my house insurance..

ALso i think the stamp dates it 1918 to 1930 ?? all bits have a sliver number under them as well as that green stamp.

Any information on this i would like,as it will be a good story to tell when people ask me about it. As at the moment its pride of place in my glass dresser ...

If you need any more information please ask , and i am so sorry i cant put a photo on..

Thanks

Satnat

Welcome satnat ,I believe this is your china   http://www.replacements.com/webquote/ALTDIA.htm
This will give you an idea of replacement value or if you wanted to add to your set.   ;D

1838 Nowotný received a license to produce household, decorative, and table porcelain. He gave attention not only to quality, but to design, developing new designs with Praha painter Jiri Dobler and sulptor Thomas Seidan. Additionally, he had retail stores in Praha, Budapest, and Vienna.
1884 Moritz Zdekauer purchased the factory. The letters "MZ" have been maintained in the logo ever since, including being on the factory building.
1909 C.M. Hutschenreuter, the Hohenberg, Germany porcelain manufacturer, became the owner, and named it Altrohlau Porcelain Factories (Altrohlauer Porzellanfabriken). The bank retained a part of the factory. One of the marks appears as CM-R, but is actually, CMHR.
1921 it became a joint stock company.
One can find numerous decorator marks and importer marks with one of these factory marks.
1945 it was nationalized as Starorolský Porcelán, then in
1958 it became Karlovarský Porcelán Stará Role I.
1992 the company was privatized and  was known as Starorolský Porcelán Moritz Zdekauer.

I know it was old.  Since we had so few posts lately, I started reading old posts about items I am interested in.
