Antique Hat from the 1960s
« on: October 18, 2005, 11:08:15 am »
Hello everyone.  I was recently given a faimly heirloom and told of its rich history.  A relative of mine was a hatmaker from the 1940s-1960s.  Her name was Gilda Casanova.  I'm told she made some of the bonnets in Gone With the Wind.  The hat I was given is made by Gilda and designed by John Fredics. (The label says his name).  The hat is a pearl beret with a feather in it.  I was wondering if anyone knew about antique hats and could tell me if I've got something here.  I am not looking to sell it, just to appraise it so the rest of my family can know.  Any information could help me.

Thank you,

Annie
