Hi mart, weapons are not my area, but I see Arabic writing on the blade, also the shape and decoration belong to an Islamic country IMO. Could be Ottoman Empire, Persia, Northern India and so on. I guess the handle is a replacement.

Hey Mat !!  Good to see you here again !!   I have no idea !!  It was made and is marked Stockholm, Sweden !!  The handle is painted with the same florals as the blade has !!  What I find unusual is the engraving has flowers and lovebirds on it !!  Not quite what one would think of a tool or a weapon !!  I saw some scrolling but didn`t see anything that looked Arabic but I will look again !!  Thanks !!

The Arabic letters are just on top of the birds. The inscription on the shaft means only that the shaft was made in Sweden.

These are usually heavily decorated. Here is an Indian example. I will try to find an even closer match.

Mat,, I went back and looked at the area you mentioned but I could see no Arabic writing !!  There was some greenery and what appeared to be another animal or bird !!  I can only see the center portion of the blade that looks like it has been sharpened then the tails with the heads on them !!  There was also a stone in the eye of each head !!  If this was a battle axe I think I would want something better designed !!
Hjorth was a tool maker and had his business in Stockholm !!  He later made other things but his beginning was as a tool manufacturer !!  I doubt he made the handles but he did make the tools !!
