bavaria porcelain tea set?
« on: June 13, 2003, 03:34:27 pm »
My mother just gave me a tea set that is white porcelain with  what I believe is 24 carat gold overlay? There is a painted gold picture of a couple under a tree on one side and the same couple in a different pose on the other. The tea pot also has one hand painted gold rose over the portrait of the couple. My problem is that I cannot find any reference to the mark on the bottom. It is a green crest of sorts with black outline , and inside the crest is a "W" over a star over the word bavaria. Does anyone know where this mark came from, and if I should insure the set?(there are 12 cups and saucers, a sugar bowl, a creamer and the tea pot, all in excellent condition. Thanks for any help in this matter.
