Desk- Early 1900s Secretary?
« on: June 03, 2006, 07:39:45 pm »
Hello, I am curious about an antique desk that my father inherited from his grandmother.  Two antique dealers looked at the pictures I took of the desk and thought it might be a secretary anywhere from 1900 to 1940s.  Also, there is an inscription under where the two doors junction and it looks like "XU" or "XII".  I have searched all over the internet but I cannot find a desk that looks very similar- either the top matches or the bottom does but never both.  Here are pictures that I took-

If anyone on these forums can tell me the time period it was made, what kind of desk it is, and its rough value I would be very grateful.

It appears 1940 to me. Original finish, and at auction I would expect in the neighborhood of $350..............de pending on the auction of course....

Thank you!  I hope I can find a dealer to take it off my hands.
