antique family bible
« on: November 08, 2006, 01:00:48 pm »
I have my great grandmothers leather bound family Bible and I lost the cover page with date of publishing which I remember it to be early 1900's (around 1905). This Bible was distributed by Montgomery Wards.  Does anybody know more about this Bible? It has lithographs of the books and color plates of biblical figures which were stated to be over 115 years old, before chosen to be in the Bible described herein.  Any info would be helpful and thanks, Paul W

The total number of bibles printed by the year 2006 will exceed four billion copies. This makes the Bible the first largest best seller of all time. There are many rare examples of bibles but most of them are of earlier printings and some command high prices. 1900 is not early in the realms of printed bibles. Yours with pages missing would retail for a few dollars. the family value would be worth more than the monetary value.
