Decanter Wagon, need information please
« on: February 27, 2007, 12:53:29 am »
Hi, this is my first post and I hope someone can help me on here.  My mom bought my dad this decanter whiskey wagon and the whiskey came in a crystal decanter...I think it is crystal and not glass, but unsure, the wagon winds up and  musical on the bottom..looks like a stage couch that holds four shot glasses in front and on back.  She said she thinks she bought it in 1969, at Zales, but not sure.  If any help or questions, please reply.  Thanks  If you need a photo, I can send e-mail or try to post it on here.

I don't think I can add to what you mom has already said. Your photos are small but the coach appears to be from the 1960's. By crystal, I presume you to mean leaded glass which is glass that contains lead.   Most decanters don't gain a lot of value but yours would be collectible because it is musical and a decanter and western in theme.

Thanks for the information, being a collectible, do you think it would be of any value to sell and if so, what do you think she could get for it?  I told her not to put it in the yard sale, that it might be worth something.   ;D  I will let her know what you say...also, if you need larger pictures, I can post them on here, it just takes a long time to download....I have dial up  ...ewwwww  :-\  LOL

It's hard to say what it's worth. It depends on how it's offered for sale. In an antique shop, retail, I would expect to pay perhaps $50-$75. On eBay or to a dealer I would expect about 1/2 that but anything is possible. Assuming that it is in good working order, musical works, no chips, cracks, etc.
