Antique Japanese Blow Dryer

Well the same day I picked up the Antique Coffee/Cocktail Table I also came across this old Japanese blow (hair) dyer, I haven't been able to find any info on the company or pictures of similar models, it appears to be 50's maybe 60's, any info that anyone can give me on this piece is greatly appreciated...thanx ...:D

Not too many years ago I used to buy this type at rummage sales for 25c.  I used them to heat set paint and varnish on small projects.  I would use them until they burned out and then find another one at a sale.  I haven't bought one in some time and use the new all plastic ones instead.  The metal bodies on the old ones got too hot to the touch.

No idea on current value.  I am thinking that the reason they went out of use was I think the heating element was set in asbestos.  I know what the coils went around was whiteish but not like ceramic.  Probably the government put a stop to that design construction.

Yet another reason these went out of favor in the U.S. is that they are metal-bodied units (most Americans blow-dry their hair near a sink , commonly in bathrooms) & present a significant shock hazard .

Saw one in Seattle sit on the shelf in a shop for 3 yrs. , priced at $15.00 .
