A green suited Santa Claus.
« on: January 01, 2008, 07:16:42 am »

Around Christmas time there is always “discussion” about early depictions of Santa Claus in advertisements, specifically about the color of his suit. I purchased this Santa several years ago and I believe it to be an “advertising piece” but have never found out anything. I am pretty sure it is a commercial piece and not a “home made” doll.

Santa is permanently affixed in a “sitting position” and has 2 projections on his buttocks which apparently was used to hold him stable on a seat. He is 32” in height from shoes to cap, …… has green felt suit and hat (like pool-table cloth) ….. w/white cotton trim, ….. black plastic belt and boots,  ……. sheep’s wool beard and eyebrows.

I would appreciate any info anyone would be willing to share. Thanks.
