Porcelain serving tray? Made In Japan
« on: September 15, 2008, 04:21:08 pm »
Hello! I am new to this forum and really only joined to see if I could find out about this porcelain serving tray my mom has. We are just guessing on what it is, we don't really know to be honest. My mom said that it used to be owned by her great-grandmother, so we are guessing it is about 100 yrs old at least. The only writing it has on it is 'Made In Japan'. It looks hand painted, but the pictures on it look like stencils, just someone hand painted the colors on them.  There are no chips or pieces missing, and it even come in a neat little round box (looks like wood). I am just curious if anyone knows what it is or if its worth anything!

Thanks so much,

Beth  ;D

Sometimes called a Lazy Susan. Yes, it is for serving. This is a transfer applied then hand painted which made production quicker but still gave it the hand painting. Not real valuable but at a live auction, no chips/cracks, perhaps $50-$75
