"Rose Jar?" (links to pics)

I recently inherited this item from my grandmother.  The only history I have on it is that my great-grandmother referred to it as a "rose jar" and that it has been in our family for at least five generations.  It's very heavy and approx 19" tall with no discernible markings.

Does anyone have any information that could help me out?  Much appreciated!

I'am not sure of it's origin. but the damage to the lid would lower the value. the fact that the lid has staples' or cleat's would also indicate the family. realised it had a value.

cleat's have rarely been used since.circa 1875. needless to say' they are frowned on.

D & B What is the significance of a famille rose jar (I believe it is often referred to that way!)?

Famille is french for ( green) all tho the chinese used the word more often. for there fine painted porcelain.
