Hello, I have had this for years and was wondering if someone could tell me more about it. I was wondering when it was made, if the finnish is original, and, what would it's value range be ? Thank you very much.

S. Karpen & Bros. a Chicago furniture manufacturing firm established in 1880 under the leadership of Solomon Karpen (known as Sam or Samuel). Samuel's eight brothers also participated in the firm. One brother, Michael Karpen, established a West Coast branch of the firm, "S. Karpen Brothers of California," in Huntington Park, California, in 1932.

In 1913, the firm backed Lawrence V. Redman in the establishment of the Redmanol Chemical Products Company. When the Redmanol company was absorbed into the Bakelite Corporation they retained an interest in the new company. (Read the story on this and the struggles the Karpens had due to being Jewish.  Very Interesting/sad as well.)

Great site just for Karpan furniture http://www.skarpenfurniture.com/karpen_bros__furniture__nine_brothers_from_prussia_to_american_style_1880_1952_31440.htm

Thank you Kc there is a debate of when Michael Karpen opened up shop. some record's indicate as early as 1927. which is not that important

Your table is Art Deco in design. the designer is Karl emanuel martin.  we have had only a few pieces of california furniture appear on this blog.

It's factory produced furniture. value is $350.00+Dollars
