1800's chair info wanted

Can anyone help me in figuring out this chair as far as is it just very decorative or does it represent something? Any help or ideas is appreciated. I have 4 side and 1 king. All have a different face in center. thanks

Can you get a closeup of the legs...looks like a face.  Figural chairs have been around for many, many, many years. 

D&b or Tim would probably be good at this one once you get a close up  - and the back!  Many markings anywhere?

My quick drive-by guess is that these look alot like Victorian Gothic/Baroque revival furniture ; it was not so unusual to have a kinda hodgepodge of styles on things of this type .

As to them telling some 'hidden' story ... I'd guess not .

The man in the center of the chair looks to be a knight, judging by his helmet. I guess the next thing would be to try to determine if there is a story that incorporates the other elements of the chair with a knight. St. George slayed a dragon, so I don't think it's him. I don't think it is Don Quixote, or Sir Lancelot of Camelot either. Anyone know of another knight story?

I have not paid attention to this type for 30+ years - nothing wrong with the style per se , just a personal choice .

Gave my kids nightmares , so I emptied the house of them (nightmares stopped , too) .

The ex-wife loved the stuff & is still p/o'ed that I got rid of it .

Gives my 'kids' the willies , even today .

That's too bad! I love Italian Gothic. In fact, I was looking for a Gothic chair a few weeks ago! Found the most ornate chair... for $5000 Needless to say I decided to pass on it
