1978 Singer Touch-tronic 2001
« on: October 26, 2009, 09:23:57 am »
Hi everyone!

My name is Mandy. I have a 1978 Singer Touch-tronic 2001 sewing machine that is built into a wooden table. I am looking for the value to this because I would like to sell it. I have the original manual and the original box with the additional parts to the sewing machine, along with extra bobbins and so forth. There is nothing wrong with the machine or table, I just would fair better with a smaller, simpler model. If anyone has any information on this item, or where I could find information on it, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks and hope to hear from you soon,
Mandy

Here is one in the cabinet selling for $400 on a forum.

I saw one without a cabinet selling for $110, and the cabinet alone selling for $340, so that should give you kind of a ballpark.

A word of warning, think VERY carefully before you sell it. Modern sewing machines are absolute JUNK! In order to get the quality of an older machine, you're going to have to spend a bare minimum of $300 or $400 to get something that will run for more than six months. This is because they are made with plastic gears that wear down very quickly. You are better off with an older machine. Personally, I sew on a one hundred year old treadle machine and I love it!
