universal "006" coffee pot?

was wondering if anyone could help me with this item i have. its a kerosene coffe pot that says universal  no."006" made by landers,frary and clark. new britan,conn. d.r.g.m. no 271098...was wondering if it had any value? thanks so much!!

This is a urn - could be for coffee or hot water....I am sure others will pipe in before I get the chance to look through my books.  But will revisit later when I have more time.

Universal was a brand name adopted by Launders, Frary & Clark.  According to the Patent office, the "Universal" trademark dates from 1890, although your piece had to have been made after 1900.  I am betting 1905 - 1907,

Your burner should have a date on the bottom!  It was to burn alcohol or kerosene.

     If you are trying to sell this item, I think you would have little problem doing so.  Universal items are really known for their chrome, They were a early chrome company that seems to have a good collector base.  On top of that it is a unique enough item, to draw in the collectors of these early coffee Urns.  I would image even coffee pot collectors would be intrested.  As for my opinion on the value.  In excellent condition I would say you could get 50.00.  Half that if not in excellent.  I see many of these that are usually thrashed and they sit on the thrift store shelves.  If you are using Ebay I would start it at $30.00 and see what happens.

I have seen them selling for more at auction if in immaculate condition....up to $100.
