Anybody know what this is?
« on: January 29, 2010, 12:07:02 pm »
I hate to ask so many questions, but I was passed down some things and I am definitely not versed any of this stuff and have no idea what it is or it's worth.

This is a cast iron tool of some sort I believe, it weighs 1.3 pounds.  It doesn't have any maker markings.  I can't find it on the internet or Ebay, maybe it has something to do with horse shoeing?  I am clueless.

im not  completely sure, but they look like a pair of tongs that might be used in a foundry or somthing of that nature. they could also be used for blacksmithing, but my guess would be a foundry. i used to use something similar to this in a forge i once worked in

Could be great for ornery kids too!  Ha :)  Just Kidding!

Great Job warward.  You must have had some farm time in your life.  My grandparents had a farm and my uncle raises bucking bulls.  Don't you know those suckers hurt!!!

Now you all know where that ole saying "Lead you around by your nose" originated.

I once had one that only had two (2) rings instead of the handles ... iffen I'm remembering correctly.

The rest of the saying goes : "but you can make him thirsty !"

Read an article in a bride's magazine years ago telling girls not to be "bridezillas" to the people they were working with. The case in point was a baker who would paint a tiny gold ring through the nose of the groom on the top of his wedding cakes if the bride was a b**** to work with!!!
