Wow, No have never seen that before.  Sure isn't english.  Can't wait to get home and look into this one, unless someone pipes in before.  Thanks for posting it.

I'm thinking either Russian or Judaic, but I looked through some books and at some sites and haven't come up with anything yet.

I believe your piece is from Spain. The pentagram is a quality mark indicating minimum .915 purity. That would be accompanied by a makers mark but I couldn't find the ant mark. Try looking on www.925-1000.com. Thats a silverplate marks site.

Thanks for the info on the pentagram, Syl. I did try at that site and could only find one mark with an ant, and that being a French mark.

George, what is the size of the tray?  Almost looks like a dressing table tray!
