Pair of vases? Any Ideas?
« on: February 17, 2010, 04:04:57 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I am new here so please excuse my lack of knowledge where antiques are concerned. We have this pair of vases that have been in my wifes family for some time. We are interested to know what type of vases they are, where they would have been produced, what era, etc......

We have never seen anything similar to this style before so really dont know where to start?

There are markings on the bottom which appear to say 7185 with number 3 below in roman numerals.

Here are some pictures:

Any help would be most appreciated.

RegJoe....from the looks of the switches in the background...don't believe it is near you or I!

Dave0922, welcome.  Would also be curious as to where they originated from (country).
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Hi, Thanks for the reply's.

We are in England, United Kingdom. They were bought in England at an auction for £40 for the pair about 40 years ago. Unfortunatly my wifes parents passed away so we dont know anything about the auction purchase except for how much was paid for them.
