Snuff bottles
« on: March 05, 2010, 12:11:58 pm »
Hello all, another collection I came across and know nothing about so boxed it  for a later date. Today I  dug them out and could use any help I can get. Not sure what they are worth if anything. Have had them for over 25 years purchased at auction & estate sales.
will try to answer any questions you may have, thanks to all.

Cool little collection of 'snuffers , wendy177 .

I esp. like the lower two in your first post .

One looks as if it might be a phoenix/dragon motif (can't see if it's dragons , though) .

Thanks RJ2 I believe you are correct it is a bird & would bet a phoenix with dragon faces on the sides (do not show in the photo)that one is impressed with a makers mark into the metal in Asian script. Way to small to photograph.   Guess on value ???

The red one reminds me of one that exactly looks like it = was used for smelling salts in earlier times!!!!!!!!!!!

You are probably right KC it does not have a spoon but just a little cork type stopper under the top.
