Where did the Antique Shop logo originate?
« on: May 02, 2010, 09:25:39 am »
I was at a local dinner party last night at The Freighthouse restaurant in La Crosse WI and noticed a logo on the wall.  The dancing? person image in the logo looked like a dead ringer for the one on this site and I was wondering where this site's image originated.  The Freighthouse is an old railroad freight house converted years ago to a restaurant and is decorated with period RR signs, items, memorabilia.  The logo on the wall was from the Milwaukee Road Olympian.

I would assume that the antiqueshop.com logo was simply taken from the Olympian logo. It's backwards, and I think the arm is diffrent, but otherwise like you said it's a deadringer. I could be wrong, but I would imagine that the dancing Indian logo was probably created by a graphic designer for the railroad in the early to mid twentieth century. It looks period enough. A lot of great art came out of those railroad posters and advertising.
